Peaceful Defiance is Kat Malazarte’s first solo exhibition. It features eight artworks of different medium, sizes and shapes; all expressing the virtues the young artist wants to preserve. Kat Malazarte is a fourth year Bachelor in Fine Arts student in San Agustin University. She has previously collaborated with her fellow young artists in exhibitions in different galleries in Iloilo City, Bacolod City and Manila. She also won the Grand Prize for Video-making in this year’s Petron National Art Competition.
“My objective is to paint pictures that show the virtues that I have been trying to preserve in the four years that I have lived and studied in the city, and has been surrounded by friends who have different background than me. ” Malazarte describes her work.
Peaceful Defiance is one of the series of exhibitions leading to Visayas Visual Artists Exhibition and Conference (ViVa ExCon) in November 2016.
Casa Real, a vestige of a glorious Ilonggo past has recently opened its doors for homegrown artists by converting one of its rooms into a gallery.
Kat Malazarte’s “Peaceful Defiance” runs from 27 November 2015 until 19 December 2015.
